Conceived in a basement overlooking Moonstone Beach, Todd Clift and his dad, Muril, began making wine in 1998.

The hobby quickly got out of control, and blossomed into a full time passion.  Todd chucked his corporate job to become an apprentice at a local winery.  Under the tutelage of a 21-year winemaker who has won over 500 awards, he worked through four crush seasons before releasing his first vintages.

Todd proudly creates his wines made from Central Coast grapes.  Moonstone Cellars offers a wide variety of, well, varietals! From a lighter style Grenache to a full bodied Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon, a crisp Sauvignon Blanc to a dry Gewurztraminer, there will be something for everyone. Port style wine is also a rare treat!

Our first official vintage was in 2003. Feeling like “another fool in the wine business,” Todd chose to open the doors to our original tasting room on April 1st, 2007. Fast forward a few years, and we moved into our current location in late 2016. We now have a tasting room, a dedicated event space, a courtyard, a little porch out front, a vacation rental apartment, and plans for a kitchen and a barrel cave in the future!
